| Some of you started back to school today, didn't you? It seems to me that this is the earliest I've ever seen schools start back. I just wonder if the whole year-round-school thing might work out. You would get lots of little breaks throughout the year that would be easier to enjoy every minute of, instead of one long huge break that can get a little boring after awhile. The whole point of having that long summer break in the first place was for all those kids who had to help their parents on the farm, and who does that anymore?
However, I do realize that it gives you all the chance to do things like Upward Bound, then then go on vacations, get part time jobs to earn some extra money, and just chill out for awhile.
I don't know. What do you think? Do you think that schools are moving toward the year-round-school thing or do you think that the three month summer break is so ingrained in our society that we will never fully let go of it? What would you prefer? |
